For over 116 years, the officers and members of Tunxis Hose Company No. 1 have been continually serving the residents of the Town of Farmington and have a long tradition of community involvement. As early as 1899, when the first field day was held, Tunxis Hose has been sponsoring community events that generations of our residents have enjoyed and look forward to an annual basis. As we are a volunteer fire department, we rely heavily on donations and proceeds from fundraising activities in order to purchase much needed supplies and equipment. Recent purchases have included a water rescue trailer, cold water rescue suits, and extrication equipment. In addition, we purchase supplemental accident insurance for our members should they become injured in the course of their duties, provide Class A uniforms for our members for marching and formal engagements, as well as give annual service awards to those who have given above and beyond the call of duty. We also give back to the community in the form of numerous charitable contributions to those in need and put on our annual Halloween party for neighborhood children. It is with the generosity of the residents and businesses in town that have made this possible and allow us to continue to respond with well equipped, safe, and trained members in your time of need.
